Even though SITES is a global standard, each project that uses the rating system exists within a particular local context. Different communities are using SITES to address the very specific environmental challenges they face. Around the world, leaders have begun identifying opportunities to scale SITES regionally and locally, as well as how to best work with state and city governments to do so.
During this quarter’s SITES call, we will discuss key strategies that have been used to scale SITES at the local level and to effectively engage government entities. We will hear directly from Christian Gabriel, the head of landscape architecture at GSA, who was instrumental in ensuring the U.S. federal government’s commitment to SITES. We will also hear from local leaders who have already been integrating SITES into government projects or higher-level policies.
